Terms of use
Short and plain, because we're a small operation run by humans.
Who this is for
apply.sinthebottle.com is the application site for in-person events run under the Sin the Bottle name. You must be at least 18 years old and comfortable with adult-content events to apply.
What we do with your application
- A human moderator reads every application to decide whether to invite you to an event. The fields we ask for (bio, intentions, Fetlife username, connections) help us vet and place attendees.
- Your Fetlife username is used to read your public Fetlife profile for cross-checking community presence. We don't message you through Fetlife, post as you, or share your handle with applicants.
- If we invite you, your display name, pronouns (if you provided any), and intentions appear on a printed name card at the event and in the in-app pair card. Your email and Fetlife username stay with the moderator.
- Decisions are at the moderator's discretion. We don't owe a reason, and we can waitlist or decline anyone at any time.
Retention and deletion
- Approved and waitlisted applications are kept as event records until you ask us to delete them. You can delete your own application via the link we sent you in your "we got your application" email.
- Declined applications are automatically deleted 90 days after the decline decision.
- In-app game data (your phone's bind, consent flags, round history, survey answers) lives on the game server only for the duration of the event and is auto-purged shortly after.
- See the privacy policy for the full data inventory.
On the night
- The event itself is governed by the Sin the Bottle code of conduct, the house rules the moderator tells you about, and the attendee guide. The most important ones:
- Consent is per-activity, per-person, private, and revocable at any time.
- The traffic light (yellow pause, red stop) is a safety vocabulary. Use it freely; honour it immediately when someone else uses it.
- No alcohol or drugs during the session.
- No photography, video, or audio recording at any point during the event.
- Don't come if you're sick; tickets are refundable for any notified illness.
- The app never forces anyone to do anything. It suggests pairings based on prior mutual consent; the real yes still happens in person.
Age
You must be 18 years of age or older. The form requires a date of birth and a separate 18+ acknowledgement. The host may ask to see photo identification at the door if you appear to be under 25, and may refuse entry without it. If we later discover an applicant misrepresented their age, the application and any event access are void.
Content you post
By submitting an application you confirm the information is true and submitted by you. Don't include content that identifies third parties in ways they haven't agreed to (the connections section has an explicit awareness-acknowledgement tickbox for exactly this reason).
Assumption of risk and release of claims
Participation in a Sin the Bottle event is voluntary and carries inherent physical, emotional, and social risk, including the risk of injury, illness, or distress. By submitting an application and attending an event, you acknowledge and accept these risks, and to the fullest extent permitted by law you release Sin the Bottle, the event host and co-hosts, the venue, and other attendees from claims arising out of or in connection with the event, except where liability cannot lawfully be excluded. Nothing in this clause limits rights you have under the Australian Consumer Law that cannot be excluded, restricted, or modified.
Warranties and liability
The application site is provided as-is. We make no warranty about outcomes of your application or of any event. We are not responsible for arrangements outside the session itself (travel, lodging, things that happen between attendees off-premises).
Reporting concerns
If you have a safety or conduct concern during or after an event, email safety@sinthebottle.com. We aim to acknowledge every report within 72 hours. In an emergency, contact local emergency services first (000 in Australia).
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. Material changes will be surfaced the next time you open the site.
